The Great Texas Balloon Race Texas Young Guns

July 26-28, 2019 | Longview, Texas

 

Young Pilots must be between 16-22 Years of age, have balloon pilot's license, & a minimum of 25 hours flying prior to July 26, 2019

 

 

GTBR 2019 will launch Texas Young Guns to properly introduce young pilots to the world of competition ballooning with non-forbidding and uncomplicated task-calling.  Safe flying conditions must be present and BFA/HACD rules (unless modified) will be followed.  Pilots will be introduced to the use of loggers.  

Participant limits:  10 minimum; 15 maximum, Young Pilots  must be under 23 years of age, have an LTA license, and 25 hours by July 26, 2019.

PILOT'S LICENSE & A MINIMUM OF 25 HOURS FLYING PRIOR TO JULY 26, 2019. 

Texas Young Guns will compete together on separate tasks from the seasoned competitors of the Great Texas Balloon Race except on the final flight.  All flights will be solo.  

Entry fee:  $100 (in lieu of hotel accommodations, this is returned to pilots who live within the confines of the competition map.)

Benefits will include hotel, breakfasts and evening meals, shirts, crew shirts, propane, and some form of prizes.  

BFA qualifying points will be given if enough Young Guns are members of the HACD of the BFA.  This will be BFA sanctioned only if a minimum of 6 Young Guns competing have HACD cards.  This is not mandatory for selection but is mandatory for qualify points on the NEL.

Young Guns will be required to attend the mandatory briefing on Thursday night.  Friday and Saturday nights Young Guns will glow approximately 22 minutes with the other competitors.
